Kudos for Emiko Edwards’ AMP piano program

The American Music Project presented pianist Emiko Edwards in a wide-ranging recital Sunday, November 3 at Roosevelt University’s Ganz Hall in Chicago. The program included Aaron Copland’s Piano Variations, Leon Kirchner’s Piano Sonata No. 1 and William Grant Still’s A Deserted Plantation, as well as works by Meredith Monk, Leo Ornstein, Jennifer Higdon and Paul Creston.

Writing for Chicago Classical Review, Tim Sawyier called Edwards’ concert “a sweeping program that made for an illuminating survey of the last century of American keyboard music, which she performed with intelligence and virtuosity.”
